Spirited Oktoberfest, Spiritual October

Good things come in different forms.

On the one hand it’s the time to hang loose and let your hair down as the spirit of Oktoberfest takes over Bengaluru pubs and restobars. Namma pub city is alive with the vibrant beer festival of Munich, Germany, blurring the cultural divides and proving that the world is indeed now a village where everyone celebrates everyone’s festivals and feasts. Raise a toast to this one world idea and cheer the spirit of one humanity across nations.

Sort of the same idea that is encapsulated in the Sanskrit phrase “Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam” –”the world is one family”. Which is the philosophy of universal brotherhood and interconnectedness, the idea of all life being a single family, transcending borders and differences.

On the spiritual hand, October wraps up the thread of Navaratri and heralds Dussehra as well as Durga Puja – a time for devotion, reflection, and celebration in equal measure. Spirituality takes on different expressions across the country with the common intent of commemorating the vanquishing of evil and venerating the victorious good.

Spirited or spiritual, October is a month of multipronged celebrations. From beer festivals to puja festivals, we do it all this month and embrace the festivities infusing the atmosphere all around. Eat traditional sweets, drink crafted brews, pray to the Goddess Shakti. Love all.

(See our Events section for Oktoberfest events across town).
