New Feather in BMTC Cap

The Bengaluru Metropolitan Transport Corporation (BMTC) has introduced new metro feeder services to enhance last-mile connectivity for passengers using the recently opened namma metro’s Yellow Line which came into effect on 12th August 2025.

The new feeder routes are operational now, connecting six key stations along the Yellow Line corridor — Hosur Road, Beratena Agrahara, Electronics City, Infosys Foundation Konappana Agrahara, Hebbagodi, and Bommasandra. These routes will be served by 12 buses making 96 trips daily, helping bridge the crucial gap between metro stations and surrounding neighbourhoods.

Speaking at the launch, Transport Minister Ramalinga Reddy highlighted BMTC’s ongoing efforts to integrate public transport systems. “Since October 2023, BMTC has been expanding its metro feeder network, starting with K.R. Puram railway station and BTM Layout bus stand. We now operate 45 routes with 214 schedules, carrying over 1.2 lakh passengers daily,” he said.

In the Electronics City area alone, BMTC operates 3,000 trips daily across 100 routes, serving around 14,000 passengers.

To enhance commuter convenience, BMTC has also introduced QR code-based information systems at metro stations and on buses. These allow passengers to access live bus tracking, schedules, and other travel details directly from their smartphones.

BMTC currently runs a fleet of 6,217 buses, facilitating over 44 lakh passenger trips every day. The addition of metro feeder services marks another step toward building a more seamless, integrated public transport network for the city.

Slowly but surely, BMTC is making much-needed headway to ease the daily commute of Bengalureans.
