Return of the ‘Don’

After months and months of battle-cry campaigning, high-decibel debating, no-holds-barred mudslinging, and round-the-clock analyses by a frenzied world media going into manic overdrive about US presential elections – after all that, ol’ man Donald is back as POTUS, trumping over the half-desi Kamala Harris.

The great American diaspora has voted, and with their complicated system of electoral college weighing in for the final result, crowned Donald Trump for the second round. A baffling choice, considering the amount of ridicule and naysaying he was subjected to, from most quarters.

But true to the image of his fist renting the air as the bullet whizzed past his ear in the failed assassination attempt in July this year, Donald Trump is not one to be put down. Love him or hate him, he has roared back to power – for better or for worse.

This time around, he has the maverick billionaire and high-priest of tech, Elon Musk extending unstinted support to him. What this deadly combination may do to American politics and the world at large, shaping foreign policies, and the whole gamut of cause and effect – remains to be seen.

We can only wait and watch and hope that Don 2.0 isn’t drastically detrimental to the world order as we know it, not that it is overly praiseworthy in its current state.

The unputdownable Trump is back on the world stage
