And it’s a wrap

As December draws to a close, there has been a flurry of activity in various spheres of life, as if to catch a deadline before the calendar turns its pages.

Starting with the beleaguered airline Indigo, rechristened Indi-gone by cyber wits, which sunk into chaos with its mass flight disruptions, last minute cancellations, missing baggage, stranded passengers across the country’s airports. What a pity – from flying high with its record of arriving always before time, it has now nose-dived to arriving nowhere any time.

Then came the Goa nightclub horror when a cylinder blast led to the place being engulfed by fire, killing 25 revellers and injuring many more. What made the trauma worse was that the club owners, instead of rising to the occasion and managing the situation, abandoned the sinking ship and took to their heels. It seems fleeing the country has become a popular solution to avoid media and legal onslaught.

Earlier in the year the Maha Kumbh Mela of Prayagraj made headlines for its sheer scale and numbers, becoming the most massive religious congregation ever in history, drawing an incredible 66 crore pilgrims from India and abroad.

Women’s Cricket World Cup won hearts and accolades with their never-say-die spirit, grit and full-on sportsmanship. Or should that be sportswomanship! Kudos to our girls for creating new milestones for women everywhere.

And as 2025 trundles to its completion, we can look forward to welcoming the new year writing new stories on the pages of life – with renewed hope and determination and love all around.

But before that, end with a joyous festive season to wrap up the year.

The calendar is all set to turn the page…
